All About Help To Grow Scheme From UK Government

As businesses get back to some form of normality after struggling long against the COVID-19 pandemic, Help to Grow: Digital is an initiative by the British government to take more advantage of digital technology. Aimed at enabling small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the Help To Grow: Digital Scheme would help SMEs become more resilient.

Help to Grow: Digital starts in January 2022 and would help organisations and business owners receive free and impartial advice on how technology can help them. Under this scheme, organisations can take advantage of a big discount of up to 50 percent on the costs of approved software, worth up to £5,000.

All about Help to Grow: Digital

This initiative by the UK government helps SMEs identify their digital technology needs, assess technology purchasing options, and implement new technologies in their operations. Delivered via an online platform, this new service would encourage organisations to take up the latest software and get up to 50 percent discount on the price of technology packages.

The discount vouchers are expected to be made available for software that helps organisations increase sales, build customer relationships, manage accounts & finances, and boost online sales. The accounting software is compatible with Making Tax Digital, the HMRC’s online portal and tax management system.

Organisations that are registered at Companies House and have a team between five and 249 people are eligible to apply. Organisations must be trading for more than 12 months and be purchasing the discounted software for the first time.

How it differs from the Help to Grow: Management Course?

Both Help to Grow: Digital and the Help to Grow: Management Course are complementary and parts of the government’s £520m Help to Grow scheme.

The Help to Grow: Management Course, which is accredited by the Small Business Charter, is an executive development programme that also provides support with the help of a one-to-one business mentor. The 12-week practical curriculum includes modules that teach financial management, provide practical approaches to digital adoption, and tips on how to explore strategies for growth and innovation.

The programme’s Expert Advisory Council includes high-profile business leaders from the NatWest, CBI, and Goldman Sachs.

How Help to Grow: Digital Can Help Your Business?

The Help to Grow: Digital was described as an extremely welcome intervention by the government to help British businesses build back better by Julian David, CEO of techUK, the trade association that brings together people, companies, and organisations to realise the potential of digital technology.

David added, "We are particularly encouraged by the support to help SMEs with digital adoption.

"During the pandemic, companies able to take advantage of the latest digital technologies to adapt to social distancing restrictions were not just able to survive, but to thrive, growing up to eight times faster than those who did not use digital tools."

Applying for Help to Grow: Digital is relatively easy and quick. You can simply visit the Help to Grow website to register your interest.
